My dad's PC is a 2 year old FX 6300 custom build I did. 4 GB RAM, 64 GB SSD. He only uses it for internet and MS Office.

I used quality components so I'm worried because this shouldn't be happening. I think his SSD is bad. When I installed it, it made a noise that I can only describe as sounding like a coil whine on a PSU. But it's not a coil whine because I put my ear to the SSD and it came from that. And it only sounds when accessing information. His PC has gotten progressively worse in the past year. It hangs and loading a webpage takes forever. I backed everything up to my NAS.

I'm wanting to replace his SSD but before I spend the money I want to make sure that's what it is.

Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like the ssd perhaps has a bad connection,

Can you plug it into another computer and see if the problem replicates it self? if it does then yes the SSD needs to be replaced or RMA'd but if it doesn't could be a bad connection might be worth trying a different connection from the power supply.

Is there still a mechanical drive in there as well as the new SSD?
