In a motion filed Monday, Apple asked Alsup to grant a permanent injunction that would force Psystar to stop selling any computer bundled with Mac OS X; using, selling or even owning software that lets it crack Apple's OS encryption key to trick Mac OS X to run on non-Apple hardware; and "inducing, aiding or inducing others in infringing Apple's copyright."

Shutting down Psystar won't really make a difference. The OSX86 community was thriving well before Psystar was ever in the picture.
Apple can't even take a small amount of competition...
OSX86 is pathetic. Psystar is pathetic. It's not about competition, It's about infringement. How would you like to have your constitutional rights taken away?

It's an OS. It's not segregation or anything. They have the right to take away Psystar but I think they should still let people run it on non mac hardware.
Wow, I can't believe all of you are attacking Apple for protecting their products. They have every right to do what theya re doing and I would too. They are in it to make money, just like MS, Intel, AMD, Nvidia.................

It never happens to me, Maybe it's because I actually know my amendments, when a cop or some other person(s) try's to pull some shenanigans I slap him with my bill of rights.

Back on topic.

Apple is a corporation, a business, they are here to make a money, they can't have people infringing on their product, thats like saying having a cracker/reverse engineer open microsofts operating system and selling it as open source. I don't think microsoft will enjoy that at all, don't you think so?

I would never buy a pre-bitten apple anyways...
What's that Apple? Tired of MS bullying you around? Better try to step on the whole ONE person smaller than you.

Ok. So a company can't defend themselves against copy right infringement anymore? Ok. Excellent logic there buddy.

Apple is pathetic...

I do see why Apple is trying to do this, but the only people buying Apple Computers are Apple enthusiasts and people hypnotized by their commercials. Neither of these two groups would even consider a Psystar.

Apple make me sick. The ONLY reason they're doing this is because they'll have to drop their price. They even get paid by Psystar for the OSX software, but that's not enough!

I can't stand Apple and I feel fully vindicated.
The people bashing apple are pathetic. It's unbelievable how many trolls are on these boards, clueless trolls
. There's no way a truly technical and mature person, can bash away at it as if it's nothing, really amazing, only on OCN will you witness such ridiculous things on daily basis. Apple bashers are typically stingy, clueless as to why they're even bashing apple (empty minded attacks), don't have any professional knowledge in programming and or engineering, more than likely not even know how an OS functions. They don't understand how releasing their OS to every one to freely install it on any computer will damage the OS's spectacular performance as a whole, Keeping it limited to apple hardware only is what gives apple the capability of keeping the OS extremely stable and significantly better than anything out there.

Usually apple bashers are the lowest level of the IT world, noobs if you will, they may be classified as primitive zombies who simply know how to "assemble" a computer, and "overclock", I know a couple of 8 year olds who feel special because they know how to assemble a computer and how to overclock. The Apple bashers are either total noobs in the IT world, or imbecile fanboys for some sad pathetic reason. But you know, most of them are under the age of 20, they need some time to wake up and snap out of their teenage coma.

If you actually read into what Psystar is doing its legal and in accordance with Apples TOS.

And they'd make more money if they didn't sue Psystar into oblivion. Where else was Psystar getting copies of OSX?

I might be able to squint at it and sorta see Apple's side if Psystar was using a pirated ISO, but they weren't AFAIK. Legit copies purchased from Apple. Now, if Apple had left Psystar alone, they'd make even more money because A: They wouldn't be paying their own lawyer fees, B: They'd be selling MORE copies of OSX and C: They wouldn't look like big, corprate A-holes that can't see the forest for the trees.

Personally, if I was head of Apple's legal department, I'd wrestle a deal with Psystar instead of suing them into oblivion. In exchange for a cut of the profits, they can sell all the mac clones they damn well please. Most people buy a Mac because of the logo anyways, and the ones that don't will be getting a good discount since they're buying it for the OS.

Yeah, just keep telling yourself that. Psystar is crap and small as hell. No on knows about them outside of "enthusiasts".

No, its not legal. It clearly states that you cannot run OSX on non "Apple" hardware. And its not in accordance to Apples TOS.

Besides, if it was legal, the judge wouldn't have ruled in Apple's favor.

Psystar is BUYING the discs from Apple and then selling them bundled with the computers. One OFFICIAL disk per computer.

Just because it breaks a TOS does not make it illegal! I can break every TOS in the world and then bring it to the police department. They will just tell me they are sorry my waranty is voided and tell me to get out because I am wasting their time.

Terms of Service does not equal law. Huge difference there!

You are referring to a completely different case between Psystar and Apple. This case could certainly turn in Psystar's favor. (Though unlikely)
