Would heating up the coldplate on my heatpipe heatsink with a hair dryer help in the application of Thermaly Grizzly conduconaut? The coldplate is nickel plated and smooth:

Not convinced you'd gain anything from heating the plate.
Might make the liquid metal more liquid, which isn't necessarily a good thing when you're applying it because you want it to stay put.

Heating the cold plate may warp it. Warpage is one of the main reasons that TIM should be replaced about a year after building a PC.
