Configuring the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro

1510 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  brcebrce
Hi all,

I decided to go with the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro to pair with my ADH-700's because a buddy of mine was actually pulling his gaming rig apart so I managed to snatch it for $50.

Anyhow, can anyone from experience suggest how to best configure the card for the following three games:

COD MW1
COD MW2
CS:S

Thanks much

What exactly are you having difficulties with? I'd be glad to share how I have mine set up. What kind of speakers/headphones are you using?

Switch it to game mode, which will usually switch on EAX, don't check the headphones options, keep it at two speakers even though you use headphones.
Sorry I didn't notice you are using headphones.

Check out your upmix mode. Try stereo Surround upmix for your headphones rather than Stereo xpand mode. That will give you a simulated surround experience and should drastically improve your gaming experience.

Make sure you are using the crystalizer too. I set mine at 80%.

You may want to turn ON SVM since you are using headphones while gaming. That will keep any huge explosions from blowing your speakers all of a sudden.
Thanks for the feedback, will try all of the suggestions above and reply back.

My biggest concern is to get the best 3D positioning possible with this setup.
Yeah, that will be with the stereo surround upmix mode. However, if you are a headphone kind of guy and can justify buying a $100+ sound card, I would have to recommend the Tritton AX Pro 5.1s. They are incredible with our sound card. I can tell exactly where someone is in relation to me before I see them in a game. There is something like 8 speakers in them if I remember right. You just have to remeber to enable bass redirection and then you'll be blown away by the quality.

Funny you say that, I am using the Extreme Music right now which doesn't give me an option for SVM and I HAAAAATE it. I like listening to big explosions and shotgun sounds, not muffled noises.

My fatal1ty Pro is at RMA right now.

I'll gladly take that XtremeMusic off of your hands when you get your Fatal1ty back.

It is going straight back to the store shelf where it belongs. Bought it locally for $67 after tax, it is PCIe 1X

do you use the analog input or the optic? i bought a asus xonar dx2 and was wondering that would be better. flex bass is the bass redirection equivalent right? is the mic clearer with a card vs. on board?
