The HDMI output on my ps3 is not working(it's not the cable,it's not the TV),is it fixable?
Does anyone have a link to "how to open your ps3" guides?

this may sound a bit patronising but its always the simple things to checklist first.

is your PS3 set to HDMI video output at the correct resolution that your TV outputs?

Have you recently had the PS3 connected to another display?

Have you tried the infamous "reset display" boot technique?

HDMI output connections are more often than not gold plated. So its hard to see how it could be damaged.

Yeah, make sure you try resetting the display output by holding down the power button if you haven't already.

Here's a guide that I've kept in my bookmarks for disassembling the PS3. Thankfully I have had to use it yet: link. Although, depending on what model you have, you may need a different guide. I would assume they have made changes since the launch models.

yeah I agree with these guys.

Try resetting the video settings to factory default by holding down the power button while the ps3 is off for a good 5-10 seconds or so. You should hear a second beep.

Then re-start it and hopefully it will work.

If not, then you can take a look at opening up your ps3 and go from there.
I alredy tried everything you said guys and more,on different TVs with different cables.
My last resort is to open the ps3.
Try hitting X on the controller when you turn it on
. I highly doubt it's a physical problem.

I once tried the following:
Connect ps3 using A/V cables---->go to display settings---->switch to HDMI output----->switch to HDMI imput on the TV---->mash the X button.
nothing happened,still no image.

how long you had your ps3?
personally i cant see what your going to find when you open your ps3. its not going to be a simple cure of just plugging something back in.
it could be a hardware issue,it could even be software.

have you tried reformatting? it could be anything mate, the chances that you will fix it after opening it are very slim. just MHO
If it is under warranty still, send it to Sony.

Try turning it on but hold the power button 5-10 seconds to reset it and hook it up using the a/v cable it came with. Then plug in the HDMI to the PS3 and TV while you still have the a/v cable hooked up and go to video settings and change the input to HDMI and unplug the a/v cable.
this happend to me but it was just the cable, no help here but good luck!

Indeed,

Send it to Sony.... If its out of warranty and you have done everything listed in this thread I guess you can open it and fiddle with things to see if you can get it to work but its highly unlikely.

Failing that, Wait for the price drop and buy a new one

Good luck, and hope it works for you. Although, if it doesn't work and you are out of warranty, try calling Sony a couple different times to try to get it fixed. I've had to get my PS3 replaced twice (out of warranty both times), and I only had to pay $150 once. It all really depends on who you talk to at customer support. Thankfully when my PS3 broke the 2nd time, I talked to a very nice young woman who was able to replace my PS3 for free as a "customer grant" or something like that in the system.

Just remember that bluray will only display at 720p over component
. Games will be 1080 though.
