Right, using the rig below and the BIOS version F7.
Had the multiplier at 8, FSB 400 etc for a 3.2 clock. Been running stable at 3.2 for ages passed hundreds of stress tests etc..
Right, I thought to myself, see if I can tweak a little, put multi on 9 and left FSB @ 400, this will give me 3.6. Now it has booted before and OCCT gets about 5 mins before an error on one of the cores.
I upped the voltage to 2.2v on the RAM, CPU 1.5v and upped the MCH and FSB voltages also.
Did this saved setting yada yada then went to exit the BIOS, waited for it to reboot.. just a blank screen which forced me to do a reset. Now, normally if the settings are too high the board will reboot again, shut down then boot up but not at the set clock speeds (the "it failed" state), allowing you to enter BIOS and back off before trying again.
This time it was different, reloaded my OLD settings (the ones that were stable) saved and exited the BIOS, it reboots but the FSB is always ignored. Enter into BIOS, yep settings are as I set them.
So saved and exited again, CPU still only showing as 2.13 (266x8) instead of 3.2 (400x8).
I did this a few times and same result, ANY changes of the FSB is totally ignored.
Downloaded the new BETA BIOS F8c, flashed the BIOS, set up the same old setting i've used for ages, reboot.. same thing again.. grrr .. The FSB setting is being totally ignored. When I boot now (BIOS f8c) and check the settings, the CPU HOST CLOCK settings are always on disable, even tho I save it as enabled (as you do to change the FSB settings).
Anyways, set it to standed @ 2.4 (266x9), ran Intel Burn Test on maximum and it's fine.
This is really weird, all other settings like CPU Core voltage are saved when changed. It's like the MB is saying.. nope, not having that boyo.. default it is for you..
Any OCN users who can shed some light?
I might have simply broke something, to much Voltage or something, but if that was the case, it would fail?
Any insight to this would be appreciated .. default is lot slow .. lol
