its new core tech, C2D right??</div>

It IS C2D. In fact, the 3040 and 3050 are more Conroe-ish than the E6300 and E6400 are because of the lower cache. I looked on XS, the 3050 got to ~3.6 on 1.39 vCore, and close to 4 Ghz on water.

<div style="font-style:italic;">Well that's like asking what's the diff between and Opty and a similar Athlon 64. On paper, they look similar, but in application one is just way better. Hard to explain, really, I think.</div>

Where do you get off with a statement like that?? Clock for clock a A64 will beat an opty ever so slightly. Ive owned both 2 148's and a 170 3700+ 300+, ive had themn all AND my 148's were both the "best overclocking" steppings (CABYE and CABNE) and they didnt overclock one mhz above the 3700+. Realize that the opteron thing was a fad blown way out of proportion please

3040 should get results very close to the 3050. At least I would assume so.

Well I have an order ready to get the 3040. It has a regular return policy rather than a CPU one so I am at an all winning state here. I will see how much better it is than my e6400 and if it is an improvement I will sell that.
