I've been watching my temps and they seem not at all better than a stock cooler. Under idle, my temps sit at 29/28/30/28 but the CPU is downclocked to 1.6Ghz when not loaded.
On bios defaults I get these temps after running Prime 95 small FFT. Turbo and speedstep enabled, C states on. 3.9GHz.

Seems safe but much higher than people report with this cooler
Now when I use ASUS auto tuning (I have a P8Z77-WS board) I can achieve an overclock to 4.326MHz (103x42 with a VCore of 1.275. DDR voltage is 1.65 which is what my RAM is rated at). My temps go through the room, pushing the TJMax of this chip.

I feel like something is either wrong with this cooler or its just too weak for what I'm overclocking at. I tried reseating the cooler with new arctic silver with better results. I'm currently looking into building a water cooling setup for my SLI'd GTX 580s, would it be worth it to include a water block for the CPU in the loop? I know my info is sparse, I just dont know what info you guys would need to help so please ask and I will post the requested specs ASAP. Thanks!
