I use to have to do a similar thing, My old machine when first built use to overheat and it was only a 900Mhz AMD duron Processor with Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64MB gfx card and because of ****ty cheapo case it use to overheat easily when playing CS, i solved it by side panel permanently being removed and on a hot day my normal house fan blowing into it, made corners of my montior flicker though.
Down side was after 3 years or so the Other week I decided to give it a clean as it is my downlaoding machine and has gathered that much dust over the time with the side panel permanently off, took the fan off the heatsink and the dust and formed so much it was in solid clumps. Nice and clean now still shagged though
