The E4500 is the better choice for many, many reasons. It's faster, it runs cooler, it uses less energy, and it has newer instruction sets and optimizations.

Where does intel say it is better?

The clock speed is higher on the Pentium D, but the E4500 does way more instructions per cycle. So if you were to benchmarks those chips against each other, the E4500 would win every benchmark....by a large margin. There is literally no reason to run a Pentium D if a newer Core 2 chip is supported by your motherboard.

e4500 will crash the Pentium D hands down. Plus it overclocks like a bat out of hell. Seen these things hit 4.0+

The e4500 is slower in clock speed, but clock for clock, it is far faster. Overclock it to 3.4Ghz and you will see what I mean.

$53 for a e4500 is a little steep maybe $30-40
Stay far away from the celeron D, lack of cache hurts it bad.

So what about the Celeron D i think i have one of em laying around.
The Celeron D is no good. Stay away from that.

I don't know your currency rates, but here in America a fair price would be about $40-45 US.

ya e4500 is a much better choice than pentium d 950 even though its clocked higher....
bcoz e4500 can process much more instructions in a single clock cycle and it supports newer instructions sets while consuming less power and running cooler.....
i learned from my experience...
i was a noob back in 2006 and made mistake of getting p4 3ghz ht instead of pentium d 2.8ghz....
as u can see at that time amd athlon series was thrashing pentium's and i still went the intel pentium way....so u can get an idea of how noob i was.....
