I am in the market for a new laptop. It has to be a budget laptop, costing no more than 650-700, and has to be a 17" or higher screen.

I have been doing a little bit of searching and Dell has some decent deals on their systems.

My questions is should I opt out for less memory, bluetooth, and some other goodies, so that the budget would include an i3 CPU? Or is C2D still on par with i3?

Mainly was looking at the C2D T6600 vs the i3 330M.

I think if you aren't going to be hitting the laptop with heavy tasking you should be fine with the T6600, you'll save a bunch of money that can go towards something else.

i3 is faster clock-for-clock, will use less power, and IGP is better than any other Intel IGP.

All I can say is, my i3 530 desktop was every bit as fast (if not faaster) than my Q9450 rig so i3 packs a good bit of power in.
