Okay, so I think that my i7 is way hotter than it should be.

Processor: i7 920 D0
Clock speed: 3516MHz @ 1.19v
Ram: 1674MHz @1.67v

My idle temps, according to ASUS Probe II and Speedfan, are around 45C and under load shoot up to 83C. I'm currently using a Zalman CNPS 9500 AM2 cooler with a 1366 bracket. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-004-_-Product

My question is; is it the heatsink, or the processor/sensors that are causing the elevated temps?

i would have to say heatsink as well. That is much hottter than it should be. How is the case temp? Could be an air flow situation.
