Ok this is really weird...I'm using Rivatuner, everything is working fine. I set and test my core speed to desired frequency, then save the settings. I have the system monitor window open that shows my core temp and frequency, and everything matches up fine. Then I go to play Battlefield 2142, and when it loads the first EA icon, I press alt+tab to check my speed/temp, and I'm back to stock core speeds. That fast! The weird part is, I played on Quake 4 to see if it was all 3d apps, and I retained my clock speeds, all while staying under temp ranges. Tried it on Battlefield 2, the core reset to stock......so I guess it's EA. I tried deleting the game's shader cache under the folder in My documents, and that didn't work either, same result. I'm running Catalyst 6.10 with the Control Center, and Overdrive is unlocked in it. I;m going to try reinstalling the driver and not unlocking overdrive, but I don't know what to do. Also, I've tried disabling the VPU recovery. PLEASE HELP I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

Can you overclock ATi cards with Rivatuner at all? Try getting ATiTool instead.

I have the same situation with BF2142.......the only game that gives me grief and the only way round it is to enter BF2142, choose your map and just before you actually join the map Alt Tab back to desktop and load you overclocked profile

I've tried allsorts to get it to stick at the overclocked settings but nothing else I have tried works with BF2142 apart from the above

Also, you might wanna enable the FPS counter in BF2142, that way you will know if you oc is enabled

Gonx is correct (as usual
) Ati Tool is the best overclocking tool out there.

yea, I always enable the FPS console command (are you referring to renderer.drawfps 1 ?). I've always used ATItool, but I recently tried Rivatuner and fell in love! ATItool for some reason won't let me use the integrated temp monitor, so I think Rivatuner is better. Also, you can control the fan speeds on you pc, so I keep mine at %100. Let me know if you find any way around this ******ed issue that is one of a million in BF2142. Also, I hope that EA goes to a special hell for this game's huge amount of bugs!
Thanks!

Did you have this problem with the 6.9 drivers? Also, do you have the overdrive section of the Catalyst Control Center unlocked? I'm wondering because I do.

ATiTools is always a mixed bag with the X1000 Series. RivaTuner has been rock solid for me so far. Heck, I can't get ATiTools to work with my X1800XT!

Yea, I use Rivatuner too, and this issue spans across applications. The only constant in the issue is the game battlefield 2142 (or BF2), and I've also discovered that this happens when I watch an MPEG TV show on Windows Media
Player. As someone told me on forums.tweakguides.com:
"This is due to the clock switching these cards imploy. The only way around it 100% to edit the VGA bios to force the 2D clocks to the 3D settings. Hopefully the next revision of ATI Tool will allow us to overclock properly and not have to worry about issues with the clocks changing while playing a game or after."

Although I'm not really sure how reliable this source is, as he misspelled the word "employ", LOL. Well, I asked him how to edit the BIOS, and informed him that I didn't use ATItool, and that the new version may not make a difference considering that this occurs with Rivatuner as well.......anyone with ideas, shoot away!!!! As of right now I've given up overclocking my card becuase I'm tired of having to switch over every f#$king time that I play a game or watch a TV MPEG!
