Back up what you can, nuke the hdd then do a fresh install.
got another computer you could stick it in and use it like a slave or data drive?
hmm, well I assume your sig rig is down so just put your 320Gb in the P4 and use it like a slave. When you boot up you can transfer your needed info to the hdd the P4 boots off of. Also you could do a repair install which leaves data intact.
He's saying pull the HDD out of the current rig, put it in the P4 rig, boot up the P4's os, and you can transfer stuff off broken HDD.

Wow. That is possibly the noobiest post I have ever seen. Doesn't anyone ever care to learn how to fix their PCs anymore? Just about the only reason to do that is when the HDD has so many bad sectors that the image is unrecoverable.

Anyway, you say you tried to fix it...do you mean you did a repair install of your Vista or did you try to fix the master boot file from the repair console? Did you reset your CMOS and disconnecting any unnecessary hardware yet? If in fact you do have a bad sector on your HDD, you can still run the SpinRite .iso on level 4 to repair the damage long enough to get a bootable image back.

Holler back and don't give up hope on it just yet. The LAST resort is a clean install, not the first.

You don't need to boot Windows to fix it. You can run "startup repair" from the original Vista disk after booting to it. For many issues (such as a corrupted registry) it works flawlessly. There are also other recovery tools on the Vista boot CD that work.

EDIT; Hey Noob....you know what I meant.

if you mean spinrite, its a freedos program(basicly it own os) witch you just put in you cd/dvd rom drive and boot from.
repair install, you just boot from the cd/dvd and well the rest is self explanatory.

Sorry, but you have to be a little more specific in your posts. Don't be afraid to write a few more lines. We don't bite...

Edit: Here is the basic info you will need to fix the problem if it is not your HDD. I hope you have your original Vista disk.

Spin Rite is not free. But a little birdie told me you can get it easily enough from some "other" means.
