Corsair 650TX down

Confirmed, Corsair 650TX psu dead in a puff of smelling burnt plastic (friends rig). Replaced with a temp 430w psu (for the time being working fine).

This is the first time hearing of this model croaking. RMA time.
My personal 650TX runs fine.

I'll post periodically alerting you all how well Corsair responds to PSU RMA's.
Got an RMA # about half an hour ago.

Will send out box on 3/15/09.

EVGA had an RMA on my doorstep after 11 days flat. VGA.
Asus has taken 28 days, still not returned. VGA.

I'm sure Corsair will turn this one around quickly.

Damn sorry to hear about the PSU. Corsair PSU's have a really high reputation so this is a surprise.
They RMA'ed my dead RAM really fast, so I'm assuming you'll have the same luck with that PSU. Didn't take out any other hardware though?
I've heard of a few other models biting it, but it's a rarity.

My experiences with OCZ and Corsair have all been good. A few other brands have
failed me. My friend obviously doesn't care for Corsair now, he'll learn.

No other hardware failures, odd. All's fine elsewhere.
I don't really mind RMA's because I've got a good stockpile of backups around,
but a quality power supply isn't light, quite heavy actually and that makes shipping from Alaska expensive. Ram is light. The 650TX is weighty like a brick, won't be cheap to ship.

Oh well, good mantra.

That's actually supposed to happen. If the PSU fails, there's protection that's supposed to save the rest of the hardware from damage. Looks like it worked fine, which makes me happy to own a Corsair PSU if, god forbid, it ever went bad.

The 650TX in my rig works fine, has for 6 months now without any issues.
