Corsair cwh50 (h50) warning!!!

Recently I purchased a Corsair H50 from my BestBuy while they were on sale. I figured it was time to see what all the hype was about. I was using a Megahalem with 2x Scythe Slipstreams 110CFM version, and was pretty happy with my temps. Unfortunately, I was battling a clearance issue with my OCZ Reapers on my Asus P6T Deluxe V2. After reading some reviews, I decided to check it out...

BUT THIS THREAD HOWEVER IS NOT FOR MY REVIEW, BUT RATHER A PROBLEM WITH INSTRUCTIONS AND CONTENTS, FOR FUTURE OWNERS OF THIS GREAT COOLER. IT WAS AN OVERSIGHT BY CORSAIR WHICH THEY ADMITTED TO.

The Problem:

1. There are 8 Black Screws Included with the KIT.

2. Instruction only tells you that there are 4.

3. ALSO included with the kit are x4 retention nuts, which slide in on the retention bracket. (Which is why it doesn't make sense for the other 4 screws)

4. According to CORSAIR, the other 4 screws are for AMD, while the other being INTEL.

5. Instructions does not include this fact, nor does it make any sense since there are only 4 nuts.

6. When you use the "AMD" screws by accident (IT'S HARD TO TELL THEM APART UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY LOOKING FOR IT), it will damage the nut, and perhaps subsequently your motherboard like me. I will let the pics do the talking....

7. Contacted CORSAIR regarding this, and they have sent me a replacement CWH50 along with a new MOTHERBOARD.

8. PLEASE REVIEW THIS BEFORE INSTALLING.

OK so the problem was with the instructions for H50, and it was specifically pertaining to....?

EDIT: OK now there's specifics up, I shall read.
Edit: wow, man, sucks, but glad it all worked out.
I accidentally posted an incomplete version of the thread. FIXED NOW.
Wow. Holy crap. Thats good that corsair is backing you and sending you a new Mobo. +1 to the king: Megahalems.
Ouch....I'm glad that Corsair admitted the problem and they are willing to send a replacement for your motherboard.
Did you get the H50 or H50-1 (newer revision w/ metal back plate)?

The same one. ASUS P6T Deluxe V2.

They even overnighted it, which was cool. The whole ordeal only took about a week to get straightened out, and they even sent me a 8GB CORSAIR USB flash drive for my inconvenience.

All in all, I am very happy with the cooler now... Especially knowing that Corsair is behind their product. I would imagine that if there were ever another problem with this kit, they will remedy it quickly.

Now you know that's some awesome customer service when Corsair replaces your ASUS board. Now RMA the damaged board with ASUS and then you can have 2 boards. Unless Corsair had you send in the damaged board?

From the looks of it, he got the h50-1. the regular one doesn't come with mounting for the AMD platform

Also, I agree Corsair has some amazing support.

I guess it was the H50, since the backplate is plastic.

I just bought it at BestBuy.

did you give them your old asus p6t motherboard? and lucky you man corsairs awesome
I'm very impressed with corsairs customer support. Has anyone ever dealt with RMA their ram? Hopefully they make a mid sized version of the obsidian with more of a nod to better air cooling.

No... I don't think they have any use for my damaged board, since they didn't ask for it back. I would highly doubt that I could RMA the board through ASUS, since the damage is obviously damaged by other factors outside their own.

Well, clearly the instructions and packaging need to be revamped, but I seriously cannot believe they replaced your board.
To me, this just shows what they might do if the H50 were to leak while still under warranty...and that's a good thing.
