Corsair HX520 Modular, need some help...sort of

Hey guys, for my sig rig I bough a Corsair HX520 Modular PSU, and I have a little issue with the 24pin motherboard connector.

It seems that every time I need to unplug it from the motherboard, it takes me 30 minutes to 45 minutes of yanking/prying/maneuvering etc. to get it off.

It makes me really nervous that my motherboard is going to break because of all the flexing from trying to get it off. At one point I had to use a flat screw driver to try and get it off and THAT didn't even work. PITA! :swearing:

Its a minor issue but its really aggravating.
Any of you guys had similar problems with this PSU, any tips/suggestions are welcome

I haven't had to take tools to mine but it is a very snug fit. This is good, because you don't want it to fall out in normal operation. Of course it's a PITA when you need to get it out. :swearing:

I suppose you could try a little silicone dielectric grease, like mechanics use on your car's spark plugs to seal out the moisture. Spread it on the connector shell and not the pins - it's an insulator!

Never had that issue. Don't worry too much, PCB is pretty strong stuff.

never had that problem with mine. Make sure you are releasing the hold down clip, and gently rock the connector from side to side, it should slide out fairly easily.

Trust me I tried, that. The clip like the actual retention mechanism seems like its too long, so no matter how much you squeeze it, it doesn't fully disengage from the motherboard. That's why I had to pry it. I'm afraid to sand it a little because its so tiny and it might not hold.

@cs_maan, I have a corsair psu, and that connector is among them that I have problems disconnecting, you just have to get the mobo in the right position, and pull straight up with force.
Yeah that makes me cringe, but its the only thing to do, I tried dislodging the extra 4 pin, and once that gets moving the rest does. I just need to jam a screwdriver between the pins and the connector to give it a little push.
Yeah, I have that problem with mine too. I find the best thing is to rock it from side to side slowly.
