CPU fan question?

279 Views 9 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  86ONE
My CPU fan speed doesn't scale w/ load. It seems to stay at a constant speed whether at rest or running prime95. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have stabled my voltages where I can run Prime95 for an hour plus, but my CPU Temps are reading too high. I'm noticing the RPM's on the CPU fan are will not scale. I'm a noob, but I know this isn't normal.

Which fan is on the Tuniq? You could set a profile in the bios if you want, but if the temps are acceptable there is nothing wrong with the fan running at a constant speed (especially if the noise is low).
The one it came with I'm pretty sure.
So what temps are you getting now under load?
At 100% Load on Prime95 CoreTemp reads 65-70 on the CPU. Everest reads 61-65. I feel that is a bit high.

My CPU fan stays at 2058 RPMs.

At low speed, that fan runs at 1000RPM, at high speed 2000RPM (correct me if I'm wrong). So your fan is already running at max. speed. The temp is acceptable though, yes it's a tad high but it's not too high. During normal operation it will never reach those temps anyway.

It stays stable at 3.7 for 10+ mins but I'm scared to leave it going at those temps for too long.

Your best bet would probably be to keep it around 3.5Ghz so the temps are ok.

I can do that. You think putting a better fan in my Tuniq would help cooling a bit?

Do you know if the fan changes RPM at all?

I have a Thermaltake V1 with a 3-pin plug, not 4-pin and therefore must set BIOS to voltage controlled CPU fan.

My V1's 110mm fan spins up to 3k RPM, lol!
