CPU Folding but not showing progress?

530 Views 14 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  MadCatMk2
My CPU has been crunching a 225pt WU now (4454) for 30 minutes and is STILL at 0/1500 - something is not right, how do I delete/remove this WU and obtain a new one? My last CPU WU also had NO credit points (unknown) !! what's going on here....

..................at this rate it will take me like 5 days to complete a 225pt WU - come on guys, help me out.........................
What you want for a Q6600 is an SMP client with the -smp 4 flag. Or two SMP clients if you prefer.
You can get the windows SMP client here and read this.
You will need to set the -smp 4 flag in the advanced options if you want to fold on all 4 cores.

You can even run two of these clients for a PPD boost.

have you checked your log file for any errors? I just had my GPU2 get pissed because I crashed my pc a few times messing with a bug and the folding just stopped. It said it was gettint a few k ppd and was 10% complete but wasn't actually doing anything. Took me a while to figure out why my GPU was below 50c, thought GPU-Z was screwing up on me.
my CPU takes an hour per %... just wait.
A CPU WU takes a while to register. At least 30 minutes per %. It's slower than s-l-o-w.

Not really, it's the WUs that are big making it seem slow. My E8500 is doing a fair race against my 4850 (yes, I know it's an ATi) PPD.
It's not as if CPUs are useless, especially when running SMP of course

No, it's slower than slow. It doesn't matter if it's a 250 or 1000 WU, the PPD is horrible on CPU WUs. Even those on SMP you can see the numbers dip to even 1/8th what a GPU can fold.
smp is still an added boost to a user's overall ppd... if they can spare the uptime... I run SMP on all my rigs, it gets me an extra 4.5k ppd

1/8th? You're trying to say your E8500 is only giving you ~450PPD?

Windows -smp gave me about 2.9k PPD, not to shabby of an increase. I agree with the others you need to get the windows -smp client.

Hey now, not all CPU folding is slow. smp on an i7 can crank out ~7-8k ppd.

i7 is the exception to the rule, because it's ABNORMAL!! lol

How about the 3k PPD the cheap Q6600 can do?
Show some love to the CPUs <3.
