my cpu died. i need to get a replacement. i have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H board, socket 1155 so i need something to replace the dead cpu. can anyone point me in the right direction. i need something cheap (or free) as i am currently out of work (covid :/ ) thanks in advance. Russell.

i see some Intel cpus on Ebay. are any of those what i need? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Core-CPU-s-Select-i3-i5-or-i7-Models-sockets-lga1155-1151-1150-LOT/143652321330?hash=item2172587832:g:Ox4AAOSwEYNfBb~s&LH_BIN=1

What was the cpu that died?
Any 2nd gen (Sandy Bridge) or preferably 3rd gen(Ivy Bridge) intel will work in your board.

thanks for reply. i don't know what it was, (lapped the info off it) and my memory doesn't want to help me. i just need something that will get my PC up and running again. i seem to have option of i3, i5, i7 . but no idea where to start. i can get an i3 for £10, and just try it. but i would prefer to get what i need rather than trial 7 error, which could take time and waste money

would this do it? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-2-60-GHz-2M-Cache-G1610-Celeron-Processor-LGA1155-Ivy-Bridge-CPU/124281746862?_trkparms=ispr=1&hash=item1cefc4f5ae:g:kkkAAOSwx9xe3Ovf&amdata=enc:AQAFAAACYBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkp2NA0WuhQytmt4dbStg00FXjGKEHFX9BLnS8c13nkqrGPSCmefDAUPFhNWYtynTmrxTw%2BxpFkai2kqRWAad4BqZGfmAdU54IRNoOVSY76O3I96dwuL5CZauC4iPLP8pgibJe%2BnS01cpJ7mkKykbzW8HcxonD2NQWfGNnPCFGHtaZFQX50owm9QHoxUnTOHNP7HCQrAW9FhSi4xEAMZBFGU9ZazOEw094h0ggmQEDw4e1VNIg4rb2Qz8vA7J76Pzo%2FRZFQWZXoNMboeNJmC6Panl9hk7m9TgeyGG%2Fp7Y9PSsx5O%2F4bV1rkaD8fx2T%2BSl%2BHCPeQHJnRsmKndSuOF0s76VbVHIl08tQBufHdiXHWGL1wfwOqhvF%2BPodQkDeu4XGSOdRbdD5HfQmf9LljuYbasxKzV1m4I%2FCF4iLSw%2BfNzp1O7GRfCkRhnnHIOzXjCDrhurbuDw7A7ix3RBhvIZ7T%2Bqpi2bqqMK01JTeoq5NY1vi77JQA8STeEJTV3enhzDI09QiDIzSKrzHATmJzj%2BDfOBQo4YvTjy61THYRiKnEr4KgzDZ8Ztw9mVndtZpyGXeP1MR3Fr%2BUD8ewEqLnuhtNasyr4caFq9NyYlhCzL91h5lhgOtD81vDfi1Dfy3aLPRNaWRq3fFVELuQEbsXXt1m1BUXrv4bPMGzgcYIiC1FNQjxWBfK4jBR%2BfM9w7yM68K6ajNPGYltjf%2BT8VhAWWQb7WMp72jHUk5Ip7DV7Xx%2BMEYRv1IQnx%2BV%2BkMFakLl44L|cksum:124281746862eb360e1fadd04af6b6c392087839cd09|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2334524&LH_BIN=1

Do you really need a list of CPUs? Its 2nd or 3rd gen CPUs...

I would go for a 2600K on ebay, they overclock much better than the 3770K and are cheaper.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i7-2600K-SR00C-3-4GHz-Quad-Core-LGA-1155-CPU-Processor-km/402187469135?hash=item5da43dc14f:g:wJ4AAOSwfAhefgtg

Edit: here is the tea and crumpet version https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Core-i7-2600K-3-4-GHz-Quad-Core-Processor/402347957317?hash=item5dadce9c45:g:0xEAAOSwxBJfJwfP&LH_BIN=1

How do you know your CPU died and not the motherboard or something else? I would assume that if you are asking what CPU to get then your testing methodology might not be very thorough.

Why are you looking at the worst possible options? I already gave you a link to a great option. Did you even notice?

UltraMega - i got it tested locally. result was CPU-dead, 1 x Ram stick corrupt, O.S. corrupt. everything else works.

Then just get a 2600K. It will work and its the best option.

or a 2500K if you're on a budget.

I assume you want this PC to be able to do more than just facebook right? If you play games on it the 2600K is your best option for sure.

That will definitely work but if you can afford to get something with at least 8 threads it will make a big difference in how much longer it can keep up with newer games.

This would be your cheapest option for an 8 thread CPU I think.

no, this is the box from the cpu that is now broken. so at least i know which type it was. but i cant afford a direct replacement. i'll try to get an i3 for as little as possible. just to get my PC started up again.
