my laptop cpu was utilizing full turbo during intelburn test and then throttling back at 70C, so I decided to re-paste my CPU with Tuniq-tx2. now it throttles [email protected] and never gets hotter than 62C on maximum stress test. great temperature for a laptop but where did my turbo go

I7 2630QM CPU

how do I remove this post

You can't disable this. Even on desktops you can't disable this.

What does it run at when it throttles back? What are you trying to run? Does this happen in games and is there a performance loss?

Can't turn off thermal throttling?

My bios says otherwise.

My mistake. Probably overstepped my knowledge on that one.

Desktops... not surprising. Laptops... eeehhhh.... I wouldn't IF YOU CAN. Hopefully that wouldn't be an available option...

on intel burn test. my turbo goes to 2.6 (correct for multithreaded) and then slows down to 2.0 [email protected] 70C , later boosting between 2.0 and 2.3 intermitantly , so I did some cooling mods to the laptop, now the turbo shuts off at 60C. this leads me to belive that the turbo only runs for a certain amount of time and that temp has nothing to do with it . I have never gotten this CPU to run hotter than 73C on any stress test which is great for a laptop, I guess the I7 mobiles just cut off the turbo to save energy.
I7 2630 QM sandy bridge running @ 2.0 - 2.9 GHZ
dedicated 6990M GPU with seperate heat pipe and radiator for cooling

the CPU never throttles below the 2.0 GHZ setting and runs @ 2.6 on games , just CPU intensive tasks like super pie ,folding @ home, Seti , Intel burn test cause turbo to throttle back , even though the CPU never gets hot.
