When it comes to overclocking, Asus spared no expenses. To my surprise, this little Asus Rampage II Gene turned out to be quite an overclocker. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting it, but well done to Asus for producing one of the most overclockable micro ATX motherboard in the world. After some careful BIOS tweaking and small increases in CPU voltages, we managed to overclock our Intel Core i7 - 920 from 2.67Ghz to an impressive 4.0Ghz (200x20), all on air-cooling. Excellent.
This little motherboard is getting it done. Imangine the LAN party rig you can build with this little beast.

Awesome, an alternative to DFI.
At near $400 for this particular board, it would be wise for one to wait until it's more mass produced, or the price goes down. Definitely for the enthusiast with no limit to their budget.
When you think about it though, micro atx boards are made primarily for mediacentre cases. Given that a good quality media centre case (Silverstone for example) can be in the $250+ range, getting a board that will do 4ghz and fit into one is excellent.

My only concern would be that most media centre cases do not provide the necessary space to fit a cooler needed to run an i7 at 4ghz.
Both this and the JR X58 look like awesome overclocking matx boards, but this Asus offers more extra nice touches.
This is the first Asus mobo I've seen with a simple, not overdone and actually good-looking NB heatsink :O

Sick board.

and the room for a quad card setup ( 2xGTX 295 or 2x4870x2) in the case imagine the heat build in that silverstone case. MOBO is awesome though, but if its 400 bucks no thanks mind as well go all out and get the bigger brother.

Maybe this will entice mATX case manufacturers to come up with more suitable designs.
Simply epic. Like TFL Replica said, it'd be nice if there were some cool/nice looking mATX cases to go with it...
i like how they integrated the "supreme FX" chip into the board instead of it using a PCI 1x slot
just found some online places they are selling for 250...wow thats a great price.

ya thats what i have been thinking about to because this would be the perfect motherboard for when i go to college and live in a dorm. Small form factor computer with kick ass graphics in a nice tiny package! Because really finding a case such as some of the silverstones that allow dual 11inch cards is not a problem but like u said with the cpu cooler now thats gonna be an issue. Hopefully someone will come out with a great form factor cooler, if not you can always use H20!
