well, after a few weeks of anticipation, and almost a grand later, i have my Pentium D 955XE Presler, and it is currently nestled under my Storm G5 waterblock, ready to get OVERCLOCKED

(complete with lapped IHS)

so anyways, here's the first CPUz verification @ stock:

there will be plenty more to come soon

edit: all overclocking is currently done with an Asus P5WD2-Premium 955X board - tomorrow i get my paycheck, and i'll be ordering a P5WD2-E Premium 975X then

5.05 (315*16) 1.55v

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=68356

spi 1m time: not stable (yet... hehe)

and i am currently running at 4.80 (300*16) 1.525v 100% stable (slack memory timings - more tweaking to be done later - just going for straight CPU clocks at the moment)

more to come tomorrow night - should be able to post 3D benchmark results (if my x1800XT wants to play nice... ATI tool is being a gaylord with it), and hopefully a 2D bench stable five-triple-oh as well

i think this OC is pretty decent running 1:1 on the mem 4-2-2-8 (333mhz):

4.67 (333*14) 1.525v (will probably be able to drop it down to 1.5125 or even 1.500 if i tried)

100% stable... should be a great daily overclock, especially if i can drop the voltage down a little bit

thats with only 4 out of 6 fans running on my radiator - i broke one of the y connectors for the top 2 fans, so tomorrow when i get my paycheck i gotta order a new one (too lazy to strip off the sleeving and solder it back together... would rather pay 69 cents for a new one (will prolly order like 5 for backups later))

and btw, i'm not done playing yet - this CPU has A LOT more in it, the guy i got it from got it to do 5.1ghz 3D benchable on cold air, 5.4ghz 2D benchable on cold air, and 6.1ghz 3D benchable w/ dry ice

and the 955X board is limiting my OC's alot - the 975X boards let the Presler's freakin' SOAR

From what I have seen, the 955 chipsets are doing better than the 975's. The 975's are in their infancy, but the 955 seems to be more stable at higher fsb speeds.
