Crossfire 5770 of different generations

When ATI releases 5770's second gen cards, can we crossfire these with the current one(esp. with different manufactures), despite possible changes like single slot and 256bit memory bus?

I'd imagine ATI wouldn't let that slip by them, although I would be wary of performance issues. Definitely check benchmarks before delving. But Like I said, I'm pretty sure ATI will ensure Crossfire compatibility.

256 bus where ?

Um, the 5770s will always be 128-bit bus. But as far as your quiestion goes, your fine. ATI will DEFINIATELY not let that kind of stuff slip under the radar.
If they had 256-bit 5770's they'd be pretty good. Right now the only thing stopping the 5770's from beating the GTX 275's is the memory bus...

There will never be a 256bit bus on a 5770, they may stick a 256bit bus on a juniper chip down the line however a change like that means a new card and name EG 5790, it would never be sold under the same 5770 name since it'll cost more and out perform it

Personally I think we will see a 5830 type card with disabled shaders LONG before we see a redesign on the 5700 series cards (if we ever do see a redesign) to stick a 256bit bus on it, remember it costs money to redesign the chip, and a bigger bus = bigger chip = costs more to make, as well as the bigger the chip the more chance of a defect on it during manufacturing since TSMC's 40nm wafers = ****, thus driving costs up more so chances are unlikely its worth while to do anyway

where as to make a 5830 type card you just disable shaders and lower the clocks, they would already have 5800 GPU's that have defective shaders, or arent stable at 5850/5870 clocks because of the 40nm manufacturing problems at TSMC
