Hey guys, so I was testing out my new 7950s and im having trouble getting crossfire to work. I have only one display connected to the first GPU, playing black ops 2 zombies with all settings cranked with my 120hz monitor, but it jumps from 60-120fps and gets only 50-60% GPU usage on GPU one, none on GPU 2. What should I do to fix this?

Is GPU-z stating that 2 GPU's are enabled???

Your 2nd card is turned off while idling with AMD's power saving feature, I THINK that's why the bus width and bandwidth are far below normal. You would need to manually turn off ULPS in registries.

In 3d mode, even with ULPS enabled, your 2nd GPU should kick on so I'm assuming it's a driver problem? Are you playing in windowed mode? Try reinstalling the drivers with ATIMAN.

Dont believe thats your issue. I just checked mine and have same readings in GPU-Z as you do. I would suggest to go to the 79xxx forum and post your issue there. OCN members there would be more helpful......

I am assuming that you have tried to re-install drivers, re-seat 2nd gpu

Ok check list.

All 4 PCI-E 6-Pins connected?

Is the crossfire bride cable connected?

Do you have the Crossfire tick box enabled in the catalyst control center?

Double check all thees.

Then the question is: What CPU and motherboard are you using?

Check check and check. Im using a 3770k on a Maximus V Formula with 16GB of 1886 Dominator platinum RAM

EDIT: Is there another test I can use to load up both GPU's?

Remove one card, then test each card individually in Furmark to at least rule out that you have a bad card. If Furmark is crashing as soon as it starts, that's not a good sign.

What Power Supply are you running?

That 32-bit memory bus width looks suspect to me, but I don't have a 7970 crossfire here to compare to. I do know that in Crossfire, the 2nd card will shut off for the most part at the desktop, so that might be entirely normal.

Test both cards individually. If the both work as they should then chances are high its a software issue. Then you reinstall drivers and all that jazz.

Your 2nd card is disabled via ULPS, that's why the temperature isn't showing up in AB. Take a look at the GPU fan right now, I bet it's not even spinning.

-Edit: Nevermind about fan not spinning, it's most likely driver issue because even if a game doesn't support crossfire, the GPU load from my experience, will divide among the two cards anyway.
