Crossfire on EX58-UD5 leaves no room for sound card??

I've got 2 5770's being shipped to me right now and I plan to set them up on my EX58-UD5 in crossfire. I've never set up a 2-way GPU rig and I'm starting to wonder how in the heck everything will fit. The manual says to use PCI-E slots 1 and 2 for dual gpu, but doing so will render the PCI slots unreachable and I can't hook up my sound card.

Looking for some advice, thanks!

I was thinking about that, but slot 3 will be tight. I first need to eliminate my DVD drive and switch to a SATA-based one so that the IDE cable is not in the way.

2 x double slot cards in the 16x slots will cover the pci slots, you could run 1 card in 16x slot & the other in the 8x slot & that will leave a single slot pci open.

edit: if your case fits for the 3rd pcie slot, I had to cut an extra slot on my case to fit one...

Yeah, that's what I will do because there is no other way.

In your rig you've got 3 GTX 285's??? I was about to ask about your sound card but I see that you are using the onboard chip for sound. Yoou don't have room for a sound card, right?

I received the 5770 today and performed some test fitting in my case. Unfortunately the PCIE-8x slot can't even accommodate the card because the back plate on the 5770 is hitting the bottom side of the case and preventing me from getting the card to line up with the slot. My choices are either to file down the 5770 back plate, or, disconnect everything and pull out the board to get to the board tray and file that down.

What a pain in the neck this turned out to be.
