Crossfire why ?

I understand when I see someone getting 2x 4850 certainly its because the best value....But why would some people crossfire 2 x 5770 instead of getting a 5970 or 5850 ?? I am getting a 5770 should I consider a mobo with crossfire ?

yup
kinda hard to find them
and if you find them many sites dont have them in stock atm
I would definitely consider a mobo with crossfire if I were you, it'd be good later if you want to upgrade your graphics to meet the high end games. With the 5770 you'd probably get double performance if you got another 5770 later on.
because its generally half the price for the same performance

Most definitely. The 5770's aren't that much more powerful than a 4870. I know I got a very noticeable improvement when I added my 2nd 4870.

Eh ?, completly depends where u look at, on ebuyer the 5770 is around £120-130 and the 5870 was £300-320 (when they was in stock)

plus with the 5770 they scale very well under crossfire

Because two 5770 cost me about $320 and clearly beats the 5850 (~$300), beats the 5870 in most cases (~$400), and the 5970 costs almost twice as much ($600+). Rocket science?

OK so that puts the price of 2 5770s in the 5850 range but the guy said half the price for same performance

To my understanding:

A single 4870 beats a single 5770 by a little bit.

Two 5770s in CF beat two 4870s in CF by a little bit (because of better scaling).

But essentially, they're equally powered on average.
For now...

from what i gatherd thats about right, allthough i thought it was roughly between the 4870 and 4890 but i could be totaly wrong, yup they do cf better then the 4870 and the drivers havent matured yet, so i say the 5770 x fire is definetly a worthy investment on a budget, eventualy ill get tri xfire whenever i get some cash, the scalability of the 5000 series is insanely awesome

off topic, since only 1gb can be used on any of these xfire situations, if a 2gb model of the 5770 comes out, would i be able to use 2gb with 2 other 1gb models and get the performance from a 2gb model

You'll be able to crossfire them and they will scale well, but I don't think that 1GB extra on one card improves your performance much compared to two 1GB 5770s.

i was thinking on higher resolutions like 3x 2560x1600 eye finity, thats the only time the 2gb will help in a situation, since only 1gb can be used from all 3 1gb models i was hoping that in theory if the main xfire card was a 2gb model and the rest was 1gb that the 2gb would have priority in this case

Doesn't xfire only use the mem of one card? If so a 2gb in xfire is better than a 1gb...

thats what im hoping, cos then in theory i could get 2x 1gb 5770 and if ever released get another 2gb model

What about the extra $$ that you guys spend in PSU which is needed to crossfire, if you look at it...you'd find that your spending more money for the same performance my retailer offers the 5850 and its available but its over my budget to add 120$....
Anyway I never played any game 1280 x 1024, I would be very happy with games running at this res. at highest set. with AA and AS
hard to find, and it is usually cheaper to get 2 weaker cards than it is to get 1 single card.
