Hi everyone, just got Crysis 2 with patch 1.1 and for some reason I cannot get the game to run well

It is hovering at 29-35fps on extreme settings, and high settings I get around 45fps. What's the matter? I can run 8x AA Enthusiast settings in Crysis Warhead and maintain close to 60fps at 2560 x 1600, that's the resolution I'm gaming on.

It's getting frustrating I am using 11.3, I've just spent an hour trying to fix the flickering issue with crossfire and now it seems to be stuck.

V-sync is off, I get like 3000+ fps in title screen but when game starts it drops to 30fps, but last night when I was fiddling around with drivers (was on 11.4) I was getting 70-90fps at one point... any help is appreciated thanks!

core i7 at 4.3ghz
sapphire 6950 crossfire
6gb ram
win 7 64 bit

p.s is it because my cards are at the limit and can only render ~30fps on extreme? Is that what other users are getting for fps?

The title screen FPS are because there is no frame lock:)
New game patches have not yet been synched with the Catalyst drivers and will nullify the affects the drivers are supposed to improve or update.

Just install 11.4 Catalyst and don´t use any game patches yet then everything should be fine;)

Also keep in mind the game is console ported and will yield many problems...especially for CF:( but in time the drivers will catch up no worries:

The stock Crysis 2 CrossfireX profile doesn't work very well.

First off, install 11.4 March 23 drivers and 11.3 CAP2's.

Next, use RadeonPro to set a profile for Crysis2.exe, use FEAR.exe Crossfire profile and move the MVPUMode slider to "Alternate Frame Rendering". Alternatively, you can rename Crysis2.exe to FEAR.exe and run that.

Also, don't use any of those Crysis2Config-type programs to start with. Delete autoexec.cfg if it exists.

Let us know what happens.

You do realize that not every multi gpu use behaves equivalent?
Renaming Crysis 2 into Fear.exe could even cause instabilities due to not perfectly synchronized use of the Dual GPU setup.
If you consider messing with the profiles at least copy the profile content of Crysis Warhead into the Crysis 2 one..to at least ensure a higher probability of stable CF use.But all that is not even necassary.

Do as I told you ....just remove all Crysis 2 patches just install 11.4 Catalyst and it should be fine again:)
And if that still gives you bad fps follow the profile advice above.
But it should be just fine;)

Change crysis2.exe to BioShock.exe, i gained over 40fps on average in CF mode. Since the patches and driver updates, FEAR is 20fps slower than BioShock so rename the .exe to BioShock!

I've tested with FEAR, Crysis2 and BioShock.exe's. BioShock profile now wins!

Renaming a profile to provide it with a foreign profile´s multi gpu ability not the slightest related or similar to the actual game´s Dual GPU usage behavior is not recommended and can cause instabilities, crashes or blue screens!.

Because Crisiy 2 and Bioshock do not have the same coding you can of course imply both their use of CF is rather different.

If you must use a SLI profile at least use the Crysis Warhead CF proile it will be a much safer bet seeing as they at least have similar coding and CF use.

hi guys, I went with the most simple fix for now and that is rename to BioShock.exe

I did see noticeable improvements:
high settings: 70-80fps, really smooth but screen tears so still not quite perfect
extreme settings: 45fps outdoors, skyrocket to 100fps indoors, screen tears.

I tried to fix screen tear by enabling v-sync, then the game just starts to flicker, not crazily like it once did (crazy white flickers) but it's flickering in a minor way, someone mentioned to select render alternate frame should fix it? I'll go try that later but a 15fps jump in extreme settings just by renaming the file is awesome! However I still think there's more performance to be gained considering I've read a pair of 5770s and easily do 60fps at 1080p

I merely posted a solution that worked for me without instabilities. I am fully aware that different profiles behave differently, and may cause more problems than solve them.

However the FEAR profile works flawlessly for me on said drivers + CAP's, and thus I saw no reason not to recommend it to TS. It's a solution that's been posted on the official Crysis 2 thread as well.

Fact of the matter is, while it would be ideal to simply use the stock Crysis 2 CF profile, it's obviously broken at the moment.
