Well after watching FRAPS for a bit on my computer and actually playing it, I have discovered that I can't even play Crysis 3 at medium settings. It is constantly dipping under to around 18 sometimes and is unusable. I don't understand, Yes I know my processor is old but even at medium settings? Is it really my processor doing the damage here?

Thanks

I think you should be doing better than that. I am on Med, no AA and hitting high 20s-low 30s. Though the opening part is very intensive and slowed me down a lot,

Drivers?

EDIT: Should add that it is not exactly smooth playing, and I'm due to drop down to LOW before I venture into MP

Running 13.1 at the minute. Do the beta drivers make any difference?

And too the guy below. I know SLi will make it run better but I dont have the money and for the fact of it my card has hit 45 average in the benchmarks, all be it with a i7-3770k

HEY I had the same problem. Just now I decided to test Crysis 3 again, before I had to set it to low settings on everything with 720p resoultion. I started up and changed it back to 1920x1080 and high, and the framerate was WAY BETTER than before, like it was actuallly playable now lol. Like you I was getting 20fps and below in the first mission. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but try setting all settings to low, quit crysis 3, restart your computer and set settings to high again. If I'm not mistaken someone here on OCN had the same problem, it sure fixed it for me (make sure to turn off vsync also).

Cheers for the advice although you would definatly get more FPS with your beasty CPU! but I will try this!

Tried the 13.2 drivers with no significant difference apart from the fact when I turned on my PC the HDMI Sound Out option was mssing and had to reinstall the drivers to get it to show up again.... back to running 13.1 lowest settings and I can't even play some of the levels

My pc in my rig is a lot slower and I can play it at 1080p at high settings and MSAA x4 without problem. I don't know fps but it's playable. My video card is hd 6950 with shader unlocked and overclocked. Did you have any anti-virus installed? Try to kill all background programs?

20-30 fps is not playable imo.

25 fps is the physical limit of the eye. Hence 20-30 fps is perfect.

Ok, but it's very technical explanation. It depends on the energy grid and the AC. But 25 fps is the lower bound and 65 fps is the upper bound for the human eye. In the eye electricity is also used. Sorry about 25 fps but 65 fps should be playable.

Update: It also depends if it's interlaced or not. I have a monitor with 70 hz and it was black and white and it was advertised to be very good for the eye. Maybe it's also 65-70 fps the maximum. I don't know. But it's not unlimited.

Crysis 3.

I have a 955BE clocked to 4Ghz on my `Sig Rig` and sorry to say I am getting 70 - 140 fps during game play, my CPU tops at around 90% usage on all 4 cores and the GTX590 is holding approx 75%...all on HIGH...very playable and looks superb.

In-fact the graphics are `friggin unbelievable`...no issues AT ALL (on the latest 314.07 drivers)

I know I have a good CPU @4Ghz but have the upgrade itch and am going to go for the FX8350 next to liberate the power of the GTX590 ... my kids are all on AMD and stuff gets passed down....or...may sell this CPU to fund another.

I`ll pop an Afterburner pic up later on.

Revo.

Please post a pic. I wonder if a crossfire Powercolor HD 6950 is also as fast as your GTX 590?

And on the same note, my son has an AMD Athlon 64x2 6000+ .

And recently aquired a GTX560ti 2gb graphics card ....and he can only get 15fps with everyting on LOW !!!...unplayable, the CPU is loaded instantly and is a MASSIVE bottleneck,

Hence me going for the FX 8350 and giving him my Phenom 2.

You NEED a good CPU and GPU to get a nice experience from Crysis 3.

He needs to disable every background program. Anti-Virus and so on. I bet I can make it work with your son's pc with everything max out?
