No, you go in console fps_max 1000(or more)

Now who's the idiot?

And besides, with a config its easy to hit numbers over a thousand on small maps

This is the reason why I haven't upgraded my gpu. It's not a difference we are going to see without using our imagination
.

How can he say that since he will have so much worse case of screen tearing than yours...

Whatever guys, I run a liquid nitrogen pc 23/7. that one hour is me bragging to the internet about my e-peen. I also get 50,000+fps because chuck norris said I could. I even have a self refrigerating mouse to cool my hands from kicking so much E-butt. My awesome ping is like negative 400, which means something I don't know what it means...

Probably means I need to stop doing drugs

lol, anyone who puts in that command for actually playing.

Also these situations are on large maps in pub servers where most are getting 30fps. Don't try and be a smartass, it's not needed. This isn't about how people can exploit things to say they've hit that high it's about morons making up random **** about their computer.

What if your PC was so slow, that your CPU could not handle the code for networking and thus process the information slower. In turn, this can be seen as a low FPS amount and thus it can have a relation. A faster PC can help with networking, but how significant? I dunno, playing RA2 back in the day on a P2 and comparing that to an P4 build, the ping was lower on the P4 compared to the P2.

I don't want fluctuations in FPS - I want a constant 100.

I want constant 1:1 (FPS:Hz)(No tearing)

whats the average amount of pinging people are used too? 15ms for me in the UK

dude your FPS was low on the 4670, on a 7600GT @ 12x10 I was doing around 110, 8800GS was breaking 180, and my 3870 was doing about 170FPS. Something else is wrong. My 4830 CF is pushing past 300, im just to lazy to change maxFPS

Is CSS one of those games where ridiculous FPS is beneficial though (ala COD4?)

I don't think anyone's answered your question, but I don't think it's helpful like in CoD4 for any types of jumps or anything. IMO though, CSS is unplayable below ~50 FPS. 40 and below is def. unplayable to me. Sad thing is, Vista + a 2.5ghz dual core 939 amd CPU = minimum fps's of about 30, even with my card. Hopefully this Kuma can clock and not be fussy at about 3Ghz so that my minimum FPS won't be so low anymore

LOL

It was to merely say that you can get over 300 fps. Troll much?

If that's the case then having 400fps vs 60 doesn't really make any difference.

That's odd about your system's minfps - I'm anywhere between 40-130fps (though I don't do AA, HDR or fancy reflections). I'm always aware when I've got powersaving mode on though, since my CPU gets throttled to 1GHz, and I get ~18fps on CSS, about 8 on TF2.

As is widely known the source engine is really CPU reliant. So I think the Kuma will see you well. My X2 is a 2.6, but if I ratchet it up to 2.8 I find it does help with the occasional slowdown (software OCing Dell MBs ftw)

Yeah, I had a couple other members on her help me out with determining the problem. And we came to the conclusion with socket 939 dual core and Vista, clock speed is king. 40 FPS to me is still just laggy.

lol I have heard crazy **** on CSS, like one guy (obviously hacking) trying to convince me that he had a quad-monitor HD 1080p setup and that's how he could see me and pull 360 headshots.

I haven't read this whole thread, but to the OP - you can set the frame rate max to whatever you want (fps_max #).

My favorite CSS moment was probably when some kid was telling me about getting 800fps on his 9400gt...

You've never played a source engine game with Vsync enabled i guess.

Source + vsynce = massive mouse lag. Like, 1-2 second delays bad.
