Does anyone know the best way to cut through a steel rod, the size of the hole in the center of a CD...

I got one, but, I cant figure out how to cut it in half... I may ask one of my buddies if he has an Angle Grinder, or a cutting torch, but, any easier way?

I'd only suggest angle grinder. maybe a Dremel for a nicer cut but it will take ages

Your best bets are either a hacksaw or an angle grinder. I assume you want to cut it the short way, right?

Personally, I'd go with the hacksaw just because I have a lot more control with that than with the angle grinder. Angle grinders have a tendency to slip on round stock when you're starting a cut.

Another option is a cut off wheel in a miter saw but unless you know someone who works with metal, you might have trouble finding it.

Flip open the yellow pages. Look for metal shops in the area. Give them a ring and they might have the tools to do it for ya real quick and real free.

Be a REAL man and use a hand hacksaw
