Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli has claimed that Xbox 360 exclusive Codename: Kingdoms will push the console "to its limits" and offer gamers "a genuinely new" interactive entertainment experience.

Asked when we'd learn more about the mysterious title - revealed at E3 2010 with a video featuring a bloodied gladiator - he initially told CVG: "I can't really talk about that at the moment, maybe at E3, maybe before, I don't know yet."

Pressed on the studio's ambitions to branch out from the shooter genre, however, he said: "As a company we can't just make shooters, we need to breed genuinely new forms of entertainment and interactive experiences, and I think Kingdoms is a new interactive entertainment experience.

"Working with Microsoft allows us to do something really new and awesome from our perspective, and from gamers' perspective I think they'll have a very different experience with Kingdoms."

I like the idea of consoles in the way they literally have no "graphics sliders" and usually if they're not on max, or near enough max, I get a little frustrated and want my machine to just run it. With consoles, you don't get that, if it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't!

Plus, the difference between say, Black Ops on Console, and Black Ops on PC, is HUGE, the PC version looks almost 5 times as good.

Where as, with regards to games like Gears of War, they look very similar PC and Xbox.

I wish, they'd bring out a different form of "slider" for games, something that properly optimizes itself for your system, instead of being forever stuck in the predicament "am I getting the most out of my system".

What are your guys opinions? Do you think Console Gaming will get that good that PC gaming will almost be too expensive to be bothered?

I for one hope that PC gaming gets a massive lead on the next generation of console, mainly because, from what I've read about the new consoles, they're going to beat the living daylights out of average PC's which most of us have, and I'd class mine as average (I'll finally put my specs in my sig soon) (enthusiasts always get away with having sharper, better performances cause of their money, it's rather annoying.

So yeah end of rant.

It happens in every cycle I believe.

The 360 back in the day had amazing graphics...especially Oblivion, even Perfect Dark!

But we had to pay the price to even get to those graphics back then.

Fast forward to today, and we can get the X360's graphics and BETTER, at a cheaper cost.

I personally am not looking forward to the next gen because I know where console gaming is headed. Motion control's and 3D. Blah! Gimme 3D w/o the need for yet another new TV and glasses ok, but forget this motion control crap. I love Nintendo but I hate what they started with Wii lol. But they were desperate IMO. Anyway I don't think neither M$ or $ony have new consoles on the horizon for the Move and Kinect kinda gave new life to each platform. Also the recession set everybody back. PS3 only just recently seems to have gained some momentum and Xbox isn't showing signs of slowing down that I see. I think these machines still have some legs but for maybe 2 more years MAX. Also I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo introduces a new platform this year. Wii has serious competition now and it's REALLY outdated tech. I also have a feeling the next gen consoles will use Wii's example and keep the highend HW to a minimum

PFT. They need that warning on the XBox itself, not on the games.

It happens in every cycle

That's all you really needed to say
, the cycle literally does just keep going round and round, but I can't see graphics ever getting "more realistic", at the end of the day, they just look like "graphics". I can't wait until games actually look photo realistic.

And don't give me all that Crysis rubbish, Crysis is good, but not that good. I'm curious as to how on Earth they're managing to put Crysis 2 on a Console.

Hopefully it's well optimized for PC, and my GTX 470 can run it on high. If not, I'll end up going through the exact same thing I went through with the original crysis, and wait until a graphics card comes out that can easily max it.

My GTX 470 still struggles and it's almost brand new, it's a poor do. Seriously, Crysis has been out since 2007, how come there isn't a cheaper way to run it? Even the GTX 480, GTX 580 etc... can't run it "that" flawlessly. What the hell is Crysis 2 going to do to my machine, aahhhhh!

This is why I shouldn't have a PC. I should stick with Xbox, cause me perfectionism isn't good! End up spending way too much money for a good PC, and its still not "that" much better than a console. Consoles are brilliant. My only hope is that they integrate consoles and PC's. So I they don't have to make millions of different drivers lol.

**** I'M RANTING AGAIN! Sorry...

I hope nintendo do release a new console to contend with the 360/PS3. And I agree with you, I don't think the 360 and PS3 are dying anytime soon, especially not with the awesome titles that're coming, but this always happen's, I think the titles will be better than ever, and I'm always let down. Oblivion was a let down after Morrowind on the xbox. GTA IV was a let down compared to San Andreas, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were letdowns after Modern Warfare 1.

I just think that game developers these days don't realise that they can literally just add new guns, new customisation options, new maps, new gadgets, and other new stuff, to make a game keep lasting, the graphics on the likes of MW2 are fine, I could play a game like that all day. And I have done, I'm just sick and tired of MW2 now, and Black Ops just depresses me how bad it is. I just like to play the "latest" COD, cause they're usually pretty good from their track record of MW, and MW2 (MW2 was a bit of a flop but the multiplayer rocked, until people found the tube... ANYWAY MOVING ON).

Limits can mean many things other than graphics. They could also mean cpu usage etc. All games must have a playable experience one the console, MS won't let them push out a sub 30fps game like PC devs do. I think it will be total system usage not just gpu power.

Lol, yeah, but you can still tell it's graphical. I mean, real photo-realism.

And is that a mod? Or just in-game un-modded graphics? Hmm.. That's interesting!

lol at people wanting photo realistic game ...

just do the same thing as mortal kombat back in the day take picture of people with a 16MP cam than make theme seems like movement and put a background pictures of some random places with spike at the bottom

and there you got a photo realistic game.

I wait for tesselation 2.0 with round curves so playboy can release a game with curvy women without the jaggy edges

Rofl curvy women without edges!

I'm not really that bothered if they do or they don't make photo-realistic games, I just think that it'd be one hell of an achievement if they do. And I'd be interested to see if it's even possible!

I still think Counter-Strike:Source has acceptable graphics, if the gameplay is good and it looks like CSS, I'd play it (Y)!

The 360 has its limits. Surprisingly high though, given the amount of optimisation on the hardware.

Yeah, but don't you think the amount of optimisation that is required to make a good game, severely delays games these days? Look at Gran Turismo 5, I was shocked when I first played that, some bits were good, some bits were totally unacceptable!

I can't wait for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, looks un-fudging-believable
! DUAL WIELD FINALLY IN AN ELDER SCROLLS GAME WOOOP!

720p works miracles for the ecksbawks, lol. THAT'S the main reason they can maintain a min of 25fps...with 8xAF....

AA?...uhh, 2x? IF you're lucky... Vsync?....yeah, right...wait.. Tesselwhuuuuuut??
