Far Cry 3 is in development and looking "pretty exciting", an Ubisoft scriptwriter has told Official PlayStation Magazine.

Speaking at a recent Avatar junket, OPM asked Ubisoft scribe Kevin Shortt if he was working on a third Far Cry title and instead of the usual "no comment", the mag received a refreshing response...

"No I'm not," he replied honestly. "But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting." Far Cry 3 confirmed then, just like that.

Oh no!

You'll probably find me listing FC2 among the worst games ever, BUT one still has to respect what they did. The simplicity of the map editor, the DX10 performance, the huge open world. I can easily forgive the terrible repetitive single player aspect for the engine and multiplayer. Hopefully they will have learned from their mistakes and make FC3 a title that actually deserves to be called FC.

This has to accomplish a lot to live up to Far Cry 2. Some suggestions:

- Give the player an incurable disease again, which can debilitate you without warning at any moment. That was fun, what a fun and not completely moronic gameplay mechanic.
- Require the player to spend time digging bullets out of themselves after most fights.
- Enemies should always re-appear in previously cleared areas. Everyone loves this despite what they say.
- Make guns fail for no particular reason, especially those that fire explosives. There was nothing more fun than lining up a lovely shot with a rocket launcher only to have to bolt for your malaria-ridden life when it landed at your feet and started spinning around instead.
- Stealth should be promoted as part of the game, but enemies should be able to see you from miles away no matter how stealthy you try to be.

Finally, the Collector's Edition should include a fork which must be jammed into each eye before and after playing it. Also, some actual malaria.

I didn't like Far Cry. I think I disliked Far Cry 2 even more. Third time's a charm?

You know, I played it for a while and liked it at first. But then, the enemies started "seeing" and shooting at me whilst I was inside structures...with the bullets going straight through. It would also take a full clip from a P90 to drop some enemies (humans), and they wouldn't even flinch half the time until the 20th round or so. This, combined with the mediocre story (IMO), just kinda made me lose interest. Never finished it. To each their own though.

I'll admit it wasn't as fail as FC2, IMO. That game was just outright boring and monotonous.

I wasn't loling at ur comments
I was loling at the comments by the CVG guy
.

Oh I do admit it took 4-5 magazines to freaking kill the guy but I particular LOVE the jungle setting
. Trigens were the only upsetting part of the game they took 10 magazine shots. But I love the music and atmosphere of the game.

But damn that gave a great combination of epic gameplay.

Its far from perfect (hence the far, and cry, as in crying when i play this game).

It has a mechanics and potential to be a great game, just needs some polish around the several rough edges.

Far Cry 2 was an "okay" game IMO. At least it came with a benchmark lol. You can never had enough game benchmarks.

As long as they don't come with the location, regenerating enemies, and failing weapons then it may be worth playing. I think they are playing the Africa thing out with the games.
If it's not made by crytek, I don't even want to play it. ubisoft took a platform, gave it to another developer and created a story that didn't even follow the first. I'll pass.
The editor may be a far cry from crysis' cryengine2 editor but it's also ridiculously fast and easy to make your own map to play with your friends.
I get sick thinking I actually PAID to experience that game.

Me too, as long as you keep playing it sporadically you kind of evade the repetitiveness of it all

Now after about a year I'm about 50-60% through it.

If they would make a singleplayer campaign that actually has a good storyline and keeps you engaged FC3 might be a good game.

I feel like the odd one out. I "tried" it before I preordered and bought it. Everyone hates having paid for it, I don't mind!
