Well The Cyberpower/Ibuypower PC's are basically the same stuff you would order off of Newegg but they are assembled there.

Either way, it doesn't look to bad.

I would personally go for the EVGA P55 LE (+$0 BTW) but that's for the looks, as the Asus P55 LE & EVGA P55 LE perform about the same. Along with the Gigabyte UD2
imo there are always over priced and you can do it easily and save some $$$
Build it yourself; if something fails you just have to rma the part. It will be a lot cheaper, too.
I've only had one experience with Cyberpower, through a friend

He bought one from them a year ago. The GTX 260 arrived DOA, the power supply lasted a month, and his hard drive died a month ago. Cyberpower replaced the first two for him, but he was SOL on the hard drive. The interior case lighting also went out recently. He might have had really bad luck, as he tends to, but still...

Just my experience.
Yeah you can do it yourself better. Also they go the 5970 for 900$ which is a bit much.
My friend bought his pc through ibuypower and everything worked fine. Still works today actually
I bought one from them and was disappointed. First off they gave me a mobo that only had a pc express 1.0 at x16, which bottle necked my gts 250 pretty bad to where some games were unplayable like cod waw. Second i had tons of more fun when i actually built it myself, and you get a warranty on all the individual parts anyway so explain that to your parents.
I've heard pretty terrible stories from Ibuypower/Cyberpower, but I can't judge about the quality now.
ecollegepc.com, from what I've heard, is quite good, and comparable to building yourself.

But the absolute best would be to simply buy the parts separately and build yourself.
How long is it going to take them to acquire a HD 5850, if they're in stock, the difference in price vs. building your own might be worth it.
I also forgot to add, if you select the corsair memory or major brand, they'll give you the most generic **** they can find, I cant even remember who made my ram in mine, it was was micro something.

A PCI-E x16 would not bottleneck a GTS 250, stop trolling.

Ya know if your parents are worried about a warranty and that's why they don't want you building, explain that most major manufacturers have longer warranty terms than Cyberpower does. They'll likely have better CS than Cyberpower as well. I've heard it's not good.
You guys have to remeber that he is only buying it from them so he can split the costs with his parents. So with this option he can save a lot of cash. So unless he can convince his parents otherwise, he is going to have to look into a prebuilt computer. I've heard good things about Digital Storm.

I'm thinking about getting this model (everything unchanged except for the HSF upgraded to a Xigmatec Dark Knight) and it looks really nice at a good price for what you get. (pretty much the same as the cost of the parts on Newegg)

-i5 Core CPU
-Radeon 5850
-4gb DDR3 Memory

Any con's there would be to buying this as opposed to building one?

You do have warranties when you build your own. The only difference is that the warranties are for each part separately and not the whole computer. As long as you get a good psu that won't break the whole computer, and can figure out what is wrong if something happens, you are protected. It will also most likely be cheaper to build your own. It also really isn't that hard =P

Corsair or Major Brand option usually means you get either:
G.Skill
OCZ
Corsair
A-Data
Patriot
Super Talent
Crucial

It'll be hard to explain that to parents though.

My rig below was built by them and it is running fine, I ordered no cable management and they neatly tucked it all in, I was stunned.
lolz prebuilt PC's

...it was a given.

Based on their rep @ reselleratings, looks like its all "good". They used to be "bad" like years ago...when they first started out. Looks like they have improved a lot along with the marketing.

It may be hard to explain, but it's worth a try. When I tell my mom something, she just says okay because she doesn't know anything about computers lol.

I would think that showing your parents the individual warranties for each part would convinced them though. You also have to prove to them that everything is compatible most likely, right? Normally you can prove that too from finding things online.

My thoughts exactly.
