From the Sunday Oregonian:

The print version also had a pretty nice schematic showing the basics of how transistor chips work- it was great to show my wife to give her an idea of how a processor works. I'll try to see if it's been recycled, if not I'll scan and post it.

Amazing read! Rep +

Also

Intel says its new chips will start showing up in computers by the end of the year. Eventually, chips incorporating Intel's new design will turn up in more powerful PCs, energy-efficient corporate computers and new generations of gadgets like the new iPhone that put the power of desktop computing wherever people go.

YAY!

Just say you're not from the US. Bypasses it all.
.... i dont understand how its "stupid".

First off it gives the company statistics ONLY to improve their services. And that is not "personal information". Personal will start with the address, phone and name.. dhurr. O well you all are winners.
That site is for a newspaper in oregon, you don't loose anything by giving them your zip so that they can see how many out of state people are visiting the site, so perhaps they would want to put more articles up on their site that pertain to the entire US instead of local news.

Good point. Also as others have stated you can use the international option or give fake info. It's just a means to see if their articles reach a broader audience outside the Portland OR metropolitan area- letting them know what to pass along the AP wire to other papers.

The wife already recycled the paper so sorry- the schematics won't be uploaded.
