D4 rattling?

465 Views 15 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  bluedevil
So I traded off my D4 for a MCP355. When the other guy got it today, he PMs me telling me that something is rattling inside. I really find this hard to believe since it was only used for a month and I was extremely careful taking it out of my loop. Any ideas?

tell the the D4 is louder then the 355 cause it is, thats the one issue they fixed with the D5
Could be something in the case or a panel of the case and not actually the pump.? Was there any damage to the box?

The backs of those just pop off, he can pull it off and see if theres anything in it. Same with the front part, just take back the big ring off and you can pull the front half off.

That's what I thought. I think he just hears the shaft. The shaft doesnt rattle during operation though.....

I know it, it might hum but they don't rattle. It may of gotten a little piece of something in the front of the pump through one of the barbs if you didn't tape over them before you shipped it.Maybe?

No I didn't tape over them, and he didn't either.
But all that was in the box was packing peanuts.

Yeah thats true, packing peanuts would just plug it up. But it has to be something making it rattle. If it was me I'd just pop the back off first and see whats up and then if there is nothing there take the front off.

Like someone else was saying it could be his case of something attached to it rattling to. Who knows. I'd make sure its actually the pump making the noise before I broke down my loop.

Well he didn't even install it yet, just took it out of the box and shook it a bit. I have him taking it apart now, as well as taking pics. I wanna see this.
I also refered this to him.

Oh come on. Its so simple to take apart. Just don't lose the o-ring out of it and its NP to get back together again.

Does he want his pump back now?
