i know its obviously gonna lean toward megahalem but im trying to do price per performance and i kinda dont wanna spend that much on a cooler but if i have to i will.

i just wanna hit 4ghz stable

how much of a performance increase do i see in the megahalem over the dark knight?

Which CPU are you trying to overclock?
i'd like to see direct comparison between megahalem and dark knght as well. same system just w/ different heatsinks.
Can't speak for the Mega, but with the DK+GELID Extreme TIM my temps on my i7 @3.8 are 33c idle 59c load roughly

Not necessarily; people can own more than one PC.

This review compares a few coolers. It appears there is a 1-3° difference between them and a £10 difference as well, I'd go with the Dark Knight.

I'd say that the Megahalem isn't worth it. Yes, it is probably the best CPU cooler out there, but Dark Knight is way bigger bang for the bucks. If you have push-pull on the DK, it'll be a beast.
Yeah, I am curious to know this as well.

I can't speak about a mega but going from a zalman 9700 idle @ 33c to a XDK push/pull idle @ 26c price/preformance aaaa...xiggy I just can't justify that extra cash unless ya want bragging hupla.
Might want to look for a TRUE. I've seen them for $46 at jab-tech. Going from a Xigmatek to a TRUE I got a 5*C drops in temps at higher voltages with a slower fan.
May I ask? Push/pull, what does that mean? I am not an expert CPU cooler myself, but would like to get that kind of performance when I decide to buy the Xiggy Dark Knight cooler myself. I see that it comes with one fan.

one fan pulling air on one side while another fan pushing the air on the opposite side. push/pull

How much you plan on OCing? If you want 4+ you already know the answer

Honestly, get a Xiggy. And if temps are a little higher than you want, in the long run, you can spend 10 bucks on a higher RPM fan. The guy that got a 5C drop with a TRUE is highly unlikely and it's obvious that more than one factor changed in that.
so if i just wanna hit the 4.0 the xiggy would be fine yes??

There's a lot of factors that play in that role, but if you have a capable mobo, CPU stepping, and RAM, then yes.

I say look on the forums for a decent priced mega, everyone seems to be dumping them for the new Noctua and corsair h20 anyways.
