Helooo,

Well my HTPC build is now complete

Here are the specs:

HTPC

Anyway as you can see i have recently purchases some Corsair XMS2 (2*2gb) well its great, its overclocked fine and runs well...

But i was wondering whether to get some DDR3... or stick where i am.

I have heard that DDR3 will really only benefit with the i7 chips... Is this true?

All help much appreciated

Yes and No.

If you can get your RAM and CPU to run in a 1:1 ratio, it is a glory moment and the machine is very fast.

But that means the FSB must match the RAM in speed, so if your FSB is 1333 you need DDR3 1333 RAM.

Though its an HTPC, and the added RAM + Speed won't make a difference really.

Stick with DDR2 there really isn't any point in getting DDR3. Remember that DDR3 at DDR2 speeds is slower.

Why would you get DDR3 and not run it at or above 1333mhz?
Most new or OCed CPUs run at that FSB, or are i7/Phenoms with IMCs that benefit from better timings more so than speed.
