ddr2 in a ddr1 slot?

Im 99% sure i know the correct answer to this, but my IS101 teacher says that DDR2 is backwards compatable with DDR1 slot. I know that there is a pin difference, DDR1 is 168 or so pins and DDR2 is 240 pins. But what im asking is, will DDR1 work in a DDR2 slot/ DDR2 in a DDR1 slot? Could he be talking about DIMM? sence both DDR and ddr2 are 200 pins.

No form of DDR1 or DDR2 is compatible with each other. Besides the fact it physically won't fit in the slot, the memory controller won't recognize the memory and it will fail to POST.
thats what i told him, and he said it was DDR 2.5? lol.
no, if the pins dont line up what makes you think itll work, besides that, they have differently offset notch points.

is there even DDR 2.5? Thanks Everyone, but im sure my teacher wont listin anyway, lol.
DDR1 RAM will not fit into a DDR2 slot, and vice versa.
there is no such thing as ddr1.5, and ddr1 is compatible in any ddr2 slot and the same goes vice versa.

no im 100% sure its not compatible. ram is never forwards or backwards compatible.
NO it will not but you can use different ram like if you have ddr2 800mhz you can use it with ddr2 600mhz and so forth it has a pin difference so people dont do this they try to dummy proof this stuff
