DDR3 PC3-12800C8 - Corsair XMS3 Vs Patriot Viper. Which to keep?

Hello

I have an I7 920 (OC to 3.90GHz) along with Gigabyte EX58-UD5.

I have both of the following (only running one set), but probably only need to keep one set, but which is best?

Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 (TR3X6G1600C8)

Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz 8-8-8-24 (PVT36G1600LLKB)

I don't game much but do plan to do some video converting etc, but still don't think I really need 12GB, unless of course there would be a significant speed increase in video encoding? I've also heard that such large mounts of memory can cause probs with OC's.

I've not tried to OC either set yet but plan to do so in the future. With that in mind, what set should I stick with please?

Bump for you.

I'd just try both ram and see how far you can overclock each one, then use the better overclocked one, look at a good ram OC thread before you do so

Think is, I'm a complete OC newbie and it's been a MISSION just to get my CPU OC stable (after the pre OC it came with was poo) so hoping to have a little break from fun and games of OC's for a while

Well then I'm not sure it would matter which ram you go for. I would go for the Corsair personally because it's a more well known brand and better quality.
