hi i have built a new computer recently and i have a few questions about the RAM that i am using.

i have an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, AMD FX6300 6core cpu, Sapphire radeon 7870 xt with boost graphics card, and 8gb of G. Skill Ripjaws X RAM 1866

now my motheboard says it supports up to 1866 without overclocking, so i purchased 1866mhz ram but now that its installed the bios says that it is running at 1600. i have the option to to make it run at 1866 in the drop down menu in the bios. by doing this does it actually make it run at the advertised speed or is there something else i need to do??

i did set it to 1866 in the bios, thats the only place i found drop down menu for it. so if i did that then it should be running at 1866 then? is there a software or something that will confirm that it is?
