Dead macbook pro 17" (early 08) logic board - Modifications Possible?!

Hi all,

I have a macbook pro 17' A1229 sitting on my desk completely torn apart. The only thing stopping me from making this a fully functional laptop is:
New logic board ($300)
New screen ($150-200)
New HDD ($100)

So basically, in order to fix this up and potentially sell it- i would be making a profit of around 100-200 dollars... not really worth it.

I come to you asking you to brainstorm some ideas with me on how to mod this mac.

Some of my ideas:
Add touch screen, make into tablet.
Add PC laptop components, making a hackin-...PC
Use the unibody case as a laptop cooler

Anyone else have idease? Crazy is acceptable.

...get some netbook internals as they are sure(ish) to fit and don't consume much. A netbook with cracked screen can be bought on ebay below 100$. If you can try to see the output voltage of the MBP battery and DC charger voltage. Then try to get a netbook mobo that uses that amount so you can recycle MBP's battery & charger. If you can fit regular lappy parts it's great, but they do consume more and you may have to modd the unibody to provide adequate cooling. Of course a Brazos board would be pretty awesome as with an SSD you'd have a capable entry-level laptop with MBP looks and excellent battery life. If I recall right some MSI Wind netbooks can be hackintosh-ed easier than others.

Nice thoughts, i like the idea of putting the netbook parts in the macbook. I primarily want to keep this macbok due to the fact that i like the way the keyboard feels when you type, the size of the monitor and the overall feel and look to the enclosure.

With that in mind, what sort of netbooks would have the the processing capabilities to be able to run on a 17' monitor along with OSX and be relatively snappy?

Also, the ports on the side of the macbook are to fit the logic board- Obviously a little dremmel action is not impossible- but i would like to keep the integrity of the case.
