Tigerdirect.com has a 1000gb hd for $79.99 after Mail in Rebate.

7200 rpm
32mb Cache

Good deal in my eyes.
terabyte.

~edit: Is there anything negative about this HD/Deal besides the Mail in rebate?

LOL I havnt heard that one in a while. Good one.

On another note there are deals for WD or seagates at 1TB or close which would be a better bet IMHO.

Thanks for posting though. The more deals the better.

I think the "Deathstar" moniker is from years ago when they had a batch of bad drives. I've been researching 1TB drives for an upcoming server build and the Hitachis seem to come in pretty strong. Other than being a little on the loud side and not the most power efficient, they have good performance rankings.

With this price, I think I might jump on it...$30 x 3 drives I need is a pretty good deal.
