So I installed Debian 5.0 on this machine
Specs:
AMD Phenom II x6 1075T
AsRock 790gx
2x2 excelram DDR3 1600
2x 500gb samsung f3 For RAID
Gigabyte luxo m1000
Corsair 430w psu
And after i try to boot it, it loads fine ,and after that i get "Ouf of range" error on my screen
So what might be the problem here?
Also what are the pros/cons of software RAID on Debian?

out of range error i would imagine your monitor or graphics card details are setup incorrectly in xorg.conf (which is located in /etc/X11/xorg.conf).

what graphics card are you running? what is the native resolution of the monitor?

if you can get to a terminal login vs a gui login in debian, and gain root privilages either by going root or using sudo, you can setup a "basic" xorg.conf by doing the following commands:

Xorg -configure
cp ~/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

^you will need to be root or have root privileges to perform both of the above task.

as for your raid question, i'd imagine the advantages too it would be the same as it would be in any other OS, speed and data backup (depending on which raid you are setting up.) as for software raid, depends on what distro you are using, and the ease of setting one of those up.

if going the software route on this, might want to check out LVM, i've heard a lot of good things about this

Single user mode, remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf if you want to test that. I've never seen that and I use debian all the time. =S

typically happens when you use a non-supported resolution for a monitor, sometimes refresh rate might be too high as well.

its usually refresh rate

if the res was too high for the monitor, it would just fail and use a lower res... at least it should
