I would probably wait for 1-2 more product rollouts (GTX3series, Radeon 58x2...)But I like last years best hardware(Q9550, Rampage Extreme, etc)-if I can get it cheap! I'd be sticking with your graphics setup until next summer.
Good luck-Chuck

This. Heres a little comparo i just found (although it doesnt list 4870's in crossfire it does have a 4870x2 2gb card that should perform a bit better then your cards @ higher res)

If the 5770's dont tickle your fancy then a 5870 might do the trick

Agreed wait for the GT300's to come out. Right now ATI is charging a premium to have the top of the line DX11 cards. Once there is competition prices will fall.

But the Radeon 5800X2's are already out. They just renamed them the 5900 Series

Yes but then the 6000 series will be almost out and you'll want to wait for that and then the GT4xxx will be just around the corner shortly thereafter and so on and so forth...

Yeah, especially if by the time nvidia releases their GT3xxx series, ati quickly releases theirs and screwes nvidia over by having comparable prices but big increases in performance.

I don't think the 6000 Series will be coming around Q1 2010(Nvidia's supposed launch for Fermi AFAIK), but only time will tell.

Again though OP I have a 26" Samsung TOC 1900x1200 and the 5970 from what I have read can handle any game at that resolution(mines in the mail ATM
). But if you really want to go ATI DX11 now I say go 3 5770's or 2 5850's. From what I have seen they roughly equal a 5970.
