Decrease gif file size to use as avatar... help..

I have tried decreasing the size of this .gif and using tools to decrease the size but the avatar system won't let me use it. I have tried putting it under 120x120 pixels, then it says the remote file is too large, and I can't get it below 40kb..

Is there anything I can do ?

You can use a tool such as Photoshop to reduce the resolution to 72dpi if you haven't already.

You can also reduce the quality of the GIF when you save it.

Using the export for web & devices wizard in photoshop should do the trick with some tweaks.

I don't have photoshop, but I have gimp.

I removed half of the frames, optimized the image and resized it and I could only get it to 192kb

Thanks, I already tried that. I used it to resize the image, but I can't get the file size small enough.
