Setup:

2 speakers + 1 separate sub woofer. The 2 speakers are normal PC speakers and the sub has RCA cables plugged into the center ports, then out to a RCA to 3.5 mm converter jack, then into the PC via 3.5mm. The speakers are in the green and the woofer in the black port.

I also use headphones when I game.

Sound cards:

Mobo (sig rig) onboard and Creative SB Audigy SE/LS/Value SB0570.

I've been using just the Audigy SE since Ive had this PC. I tried reading the Audigy manual, but it wont open right.

Also, I've had my settings on the Audigy as this: 4/4.1 setup w/ CMSS-3D enabled. Just now I found out why 2/2.1 was sound odd, CMSS-3D was enables, however the sub does not output any in either port. So should I do 2/2.1 or stay at 4/4.1 for general/media use or other?

What about gaming? I use my HD 280s when I game since they're my only pair, so should I enable CMSS-3D and 7.1, for virtual surround sound?

Audio output quality is set to: 96Hz sample rate and 24 bit depth.

As a side note, I tried using the orange port for the sub, but I do not get little to no bass at all, but it works great in the black port.

Another question, it says there is a headphone detection option, how does that work...? Is there a different port for my headphones and is it worth enabling?

Also, is this a real program for my sound card? It was on creatives website;

Sample Rate:44.1 or 48khz. That's what music is recorded in. No purpose in upscaling it.

You should be using 2.1 always. Never change it to 4.1 or 7.1 Those require 4 speakers and 7 speakers which you're not using. You should also have it set to 2 channel.

You don't get "Surround" by changing it to 4.1 or 7.1

For HD280s, you should have it set to 2 channel and headphone or 2.0

Typically people tend to like having CMSS-3D off and the crystalizer off and anything else pretty much off.

What about the "Headphone detection" option? Also, more opinions are welcomed!

Headphone detection just means if you have speakers playing and you plug in the headphones, it'll detect that you're now using headphones and mute the speakers. IMO, a pretty dumb feature, but someone will make use out of it.

You should upgrade sound cards btw.
