Is there any way to change where new icons/shortcuts/files, ect are placed on the desktop, I've got a rainmeter config in the top left and anything I save to the desktop goes to the top left corner under it. I looked at Fences but I think I need the pro version to catch new icons.

I don't actually understand your problem but if I'm right...

try this:

right click on desktop
select view
uncheck auto arrange icons and align icons to grid

then you can put the icons wherever you want them on the desktop

I'll try and explain better, I have no icons on my desktop, when I install a new app and it makes a shortcut or save a file to the desktop, ect. it appears in the top left corner. I want new icons to appear somewhere else, top right for example. I keep having to move a Rainmeter config to remove an icon from under it.

Why don't you just move rainmeter permanently?
