how often should i defrag, and should i use windows or my advance sys care to defrag?

I defrag once a month. Doesn't really matter what program you use to defrag, but I use the windows disk defragmenter.

I have mine a schedule to do it once a week automatically.*

It really isn't necessary until you notice slowness, then analyze and see that it needs it.*

*this is just my personal opinion

I don't do it much on my newer drive (maybe once a month). On my older drives maybe once a week.
