For future reference- Dell desktop 5pin (4wire) fans use the same wires as standard 4 pin cpu connectors

Dell wire color - - - Standard 4 pin wire color
black---black
red ----yellow
blue----blue
white---green

A simple splice is all that is needed to convert the monster dell dimension fan to a regular cpu fan. I was looking for a precise pinout online, but nobody had it listed. So now it is. For future reference, these things put out a ton of air.
The specific one i have here is an NMB-MAT model 4715k-04w-b56. Listed as 1.6 Amps
Completely unrelated, but i didn't see this anywhere else. I work at a tech repair shop, and had a dell die, so instead of letting these huge fans go to waste, i'm gonna put them to good use. My time searching= your time modding. Have at it.

Thanks for that. I too am going to use this as a CPU fan on an overclocked Gigabyte board. As the OP states, these fans are serious air producers and if you have ever pulled the RAM from a Dell Dimension and turned it on the noise of these things at full pelt actually cause a moment of panic!
I would recommend using a fan controller application such as 'Speedfan' for better control within an operating system.
Regards
